Locally known as Kakawate or madre de cacao and madre cacao. Kakawate is a medium size leguminous tree belonging to the family Fabaceae. It is recently found out that Madre de Cacao leaves are good source of coumarins an effective botanopesticide and also a toxic substance that can kill almost all types of pests and insects.
Here are simple procedure to make a Madre de Cacao Pesticide

- 1 kilo of Madre de Cacao leaves (The more leaves the more concentrate the pesticide is)
- 20 liters of Water
Materials needed.
- Mortar and pestle Strainer
- Pail
- Sprayer
Procedure:
- Chop or grind and pour the Madre de Cacao leaves
- Soak overnight in 20 liters of water in a pail.
- Using a strainer, separate the leaves from the solution.
- Spray in the affected plants.
The best time to do it is from eight o’clock to nine o’clock in the morning and from five o’clock to six o’clock in the afternoon. These times, worms and pests are coming out from the leaves making the solution more effective.
